Manchester United to play Norwich in FA Cup quarter-final if they beat Derby County

Manchester United will play Norwich City in the FA Cup quarter-finals, if they beat Derby County in the last of the fifth round ties on Thursday night.

The draw for the last-eight took place at Hillsborough, with seven of the eight quarter-finalists now known.

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side can see off Championship side Derby at Pride Park they now know they will play travel to play Norwich, with a place in the semi-finals and a trip to Wembley on the line.

The Canaries won on penalties at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to book their place in the sixth round.

The quarter-finals are set to be played on the weekend of March 21/22, which will mean United's Premier League game with Sheffield United at Old Trafford will be postponed if they get past the Rams.

United will be favourites to progress against Derby, but will be coming up against a familiar foe in Wayne Rooney, and Solskjaer has warned his side to be wary of the 34-year-old, who will have a point to prove in front of the TV cameras.

"He's been a fantastic player for Man United. And he played here for so long. He's the club's top scorer, he won so many trophies," the United boss said.

"For me, I don't think the fans underrate him, I think everyone really, really appreciates what he did for us, he's still very welcome, he's still around the place, he still comes to Old Trafford, so he will get a good reception from our away fans in that game.

"I don't think any Man United player thinks what any other fan other than Man United fans think about them. And that's the key for Wazza, he gave absolutely everything for this club and what he's done, we all appreciate that. But any goal he scores against us will be chalked off his goals tally!

"He's a threat, in and around the box, set-plays and in this game Wayne will show what he can do, and he wants to prove there is still fight in the old dog. We've got to be on our toes, don't give him any space in and around the box or in midfield. At the latter end, when he played in midfield, he's got that Scholesy-like passing range."
