Manchester United to face Tottenham in pre-season fixture

Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur as part of their pre-season tour schedule in the summer.

United will face their Premier League rivals in Shanghai on July 25 with the fixture set to be the final match in the Asian leg of this year's International Champions Cup campaign.

The match will represent United's fourth visit to Shanghai with their last match during Jose Mourinho's first summer in charge of the club.

United's last match in China saw them lose 4-1 to Borussia Dortmund at the Shanghai stadium as part of the same tournament three seasons ago.

However, the club's last visit to China is perhaps best remembered for the Manchester Derby fixture against Man City in Beijing which was cancelled at the last minute due to torrential rain.

Speaking at the recent club quarterly call to investors club director Richard Arnold spoke about the new partnership with Harves to open Manchester United Entertainment and Experience Centres in China, and revealed how they will "bring Manchester United to life in China" and recreate the Old Trafford match-day experience.

The fixture against Tottenham will be the fourth fixture of the current pre-season schedule, with a double-header of fixtures against Perth Glory and Leeds already confirmed earlier in the season.

United will also face Inter Milan in Singapore as part of the International Champions Cup tournament, with the match against Mauricio Pochettino's side to follow soon after.

It remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will still be in charge for the trip to Asia, with the club yet to confirm if he will be named the United's next permanent manager.

The club are remaining tight-lipped over a time frame for the appointment of a permanent manager, but MEN Sport understand an announcement could yet be made before the summer.

Manchester United already have a defender who can be Victor Lindelof's long-term partner
