Manchester United To Face Real Betis In Preseason Friendly

Manchester United are gearing up for an exciting preseason friendly against LaLiga side Real Betis on July 31 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. The match forms part of United's preseason tour, with the team having spent a significant portion of their 2023 preseason in San Diego, training at the university's facilities. However, this year, the team will be based in Los Angeles.

The clash with Betis will be sandwiched between games against Premier League rivals. The tour kicks off with a showdown against Arsenal on July 27 at the impressive SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, home to the NFL's Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. United will then take on Liverpool on Aug. 3 at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, in what will be the largest club soccer match ever held at the 77,559-capacity Williams-Brice Stadium.

This upcoming match against Betis follows a trend of high-profile preseason encounters for United. Last summer, they faced Arsenal in a sold-out match at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Betis, currently sitting seventh in LaLiga under the management of former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, are in contention for European competition.

Notably, United's under-21 team played against Wrexham at Snapdragon Stadium last year. The game is remembered for an unfortunate incident where Wrexham's Paul Mullin suffered a punctured lung following a challenge from Nathan Bishop, who now plays for Sunderland.
