The 24-year-old has made 32 appearances for Juventus this season, providing eight assists, and his form is said to have earned admiring glances from the Premier League.
Calciomercato.com report that United have already been in contact with Cancelo's agent, Jorge Mendes, and that City are also thought to be mulling over a move for the 14-time capped Portugal international.
An offer in the region of €50-60 million could tempt the Serie A champions into parting ways with the right-back whom they signed from Valencia last summer.
Meanwhile, United are said to be considering a move for Paulo Dybala this summer.
The Argentina international has found minutes hard to come by under Max Allegri at Juventus this season and Calciomercato.com claim the playmaker is considering his future at the Serie A club.
