Manchester United to 'break the bank' to sign West Ham's Declan Rice

Manchester United are 'ready to break the bank' in order to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, according to reports.

Rice has emerged as a fine defensive midfielder and has had a great campaign for the Hammers, resulting in him making his debut for England.

The Independent Ireland report that "West Ham officials are braced for a bid for Rice, with a fee in excess of £50m likely to be demanded."

The report also speculates that if Rice were to arrive at Old Trafford it would spell the end of Nemanja Matic's time at the club.

Meanwhile, Italian giants Inter are open to selling their prized asset and rumoured United target Milan Skriniar, according to reports.

United have long been linked with a new centre-back to reinforce the back-line and Skriniar has been on the club's radar, alongside the likes of Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, Leicester City's Harry Maguire and Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld.

It's now reported by Italian publication Calciomercato that "with a view towards strengthening the side, Inter are open to the idea of letting the Slovakian leave."

Barcelona might have handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Manchester United transfer boost

The reported fee it would take for Inter to part with Skriniar is claimed to be 100m Euros, with United, Man City and Barcelona cited as the interested parties.

It's claimed that Inter would be willing to part with the 24-year-old so they can reinvest in their own squad.

Some reports suggest Skriniar is in the process of signing a new contract at the San Siro, but Calciomercato claim that Inter "feel this is the right time to cash in" on the defender and he "could leave even if he signs a new deal at the club. That will only increase his value in the market."
