Manchester United to assess Paul Pogba injury today

Manchester United will assess Paul Pogba on Sunday after he was forced off in the Premier League draw against Everton with an apparent muscle injury.

Pogba, 27, was replaced by Fred in the 39th minute after he pulled up and appeared to clutch his thigh. Pogba did not require a stretcher and walked down the tunnel.

"It seemed like a muscle injury," United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. "He's fine, we'll check him out tomorrow and we'll see how serious it is. I hope it's not too bad but he didn't carry on so had to take him off."

Fred started ahead of Pogba in the 9-0 thrashing of Southampton on Wednesday when the £89million midfielder was an unused substitute.

United host West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round on Tuesday night and travel to West Brom in the Premier League next Sunday.

Pogba, voted the United player of the month for January, missed three games in November with an ankle injury but has been available for the rest of United's games this season, having tested positive for Covid-19 before it started.

The France international was plagued by ankle problems last season but his November injury was unrelated to the surgery he required in January 2020.

United take on Real Sociedad in their round-of-32 Europa League ties later this month and entertain Newcastle in the league on February 21 before heading to Chelsea a week later.
