Manchester United team news: Anthony Martial one of four players in doubt for Fulham game

Anthony Martial is a doubt for Manchester United’s Premier League meeting with Fulham at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Martial was substituted during Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal with what Jose Mourinho later described as a “pre-injury”.

Despite having suggested that Martial was only brought off as a precautionary measure, the United manager said on Friday that the 23-year-old was doubtful for Fulham’s visit.

Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly will also undergo late fitness tests before Saturday’s game, while Victor Lindelof (groin) and Alexis Sanchez (hamstring) are long-term absentees.

“I don’t know. Training session, 11 o’clock will give us some answers, Smalling, Jones, Martial, Bailly,” Mourinho said.

“Of course, Lindelof and Alexis we don’t even speak about them but we need answers.

“For sure, we are going to play with players, not with the max of their potential but players who will put themselves available for the team like Smalling did last match.

“Players in difficulty who go one step forward to try and help the team.”

Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, dropped for Wednesday’s draw with Arsenal, are available and will hope to return to the starting line-up.
