Manchester United target talks future, Chelsea will keep hold of star forward - Premier League rumours

United target talks future

Kalidou Koulibaly has been linked with a move to Manchester United for some time and now the Napoli star has spoken about his love for Serie A.

The towering defender was speaking following his side's Europa League loss to Arsenal in midweek as the Serie A team were dumped out of the competition.

Koulibaly was naturally disappointed and when quizzed on whether he is too good for the Italian competition, the 27-year-old responded with these comments.

"Why? I grew up in this league. It's the league that made me the player I am today," Koulibaly said . "To me what matters most is to finish the season well, then we'll see. I am sorry because we wanted to go through."

This is what you could describe as leaving the door open. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Napoli want €150m for the centre-back.

Icardi not going anywhere

Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with landing the services of Mauro Icardi during the summer transfer window but his agent has offered up a blow for clubs attempting to sign the striker.

That's because his agent and wife Wanda Nara has opened up on her partner's situation and stressed that he would like to stay in Italy as a priority.

Chelsea in particular are looking to strengthen their attacking options during the summer and have been keeping tabs on the 26-year-old. However, this latest update is not promising.

"Mauro continues to score, he goes ahead because he is the strength of the family," Wanda Nara told Verissimo .

"Now he is calmer, he embraces everyone because he has always had a beautiful relationship with everyone. We will be here [at Inter] again next year."

Chelsea eager to keep Giroud

Sticking with Chelsea and it would make sense for them to retain top striking talent if they do not land Icardi, with Olivier Giroud in talks about a contract extension.

The French star has not been a regular starter this season but has popped up with several important goals and is now set for a new deal, with Maurizio Sarri providing the update.

“He is sure, because the club has an option for another year, another season," Sarri told Sky Sports . “I spoke to the club two days ago and we agreed to exercise the option. So, he will remain.

“He cannot do anything, but I spoke with the club and I spoke with Marina (Granovskai) two days ago and Olivier will remain with us and she didn't tell me anything about this question.”
