Manchester United 'target surprise swoop' for Edin Dzeko and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a potential move for Inter Milan striker Edin Dzeko as they look to add attacking reinforcements to the squad.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the 36-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has not yet spoken to the Italian giants about an extension to his deal. The Bosnian frontman has scored 27 goals in 72 appearances for the Serie A side.

The Reds are desperate to sign a new striker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November, and it appears likely that any incoming attacker will arrive on loan. It comes as United are advancing with a potential loan move for Burnley striker Wout Weghorst.

Despite coming towards the end of his career at the top level, Dzeko has still scored seven goals in 17 Serie A appearances this season - and has been prolific in the Champions League, registering three goals in the group stage. The report also claims that Real Madrid are showing an interest in the former Manchester City ace.

Elsewhere, The Sun journalist Alan Nixon (via The People's Person) has reported that Blackpool are 'taking a look' at United set-piece coach Eric Ramsay as a possible contender to become their new manager.

The Tangerines, who beat Nottingham Forest 4-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday, are currently 22nd in the Championship table and in danger of suffering relegation to League One.

Manager Michael Appleton is under mounting pressure and it is claimed that Blackpool are looking at Ramsay as a possible replacement.

Ramsay joined the Reds under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from Chelsea, with the 30-year-old having previously worked at Swansea City and Shrewsbury. While a number of Solskjaer's backroom staff left following his departure from the club, Ramsay stayed at Old Trafford to work under Ralf Rangnick and now Erik ten Hag.
