Manchester United target Matthijs de Ligt's agent to meet with Juventus and more transfer rumours

Despite signing Raphael Varane in the summer from Real Madrid, Manchester United have been put on red alert following rumours Juventus will meet with agent Mino Raiola to discuss Matthijs de Ligt's future.

Calciomercato report that while Juventus want to keep De Ligt, they are conscious of their growing wage bill and the Dutch defender is one of their highest earners.

When you factor in the 22-year-old's contract runs out in 2024 and he is yet to commit to the club long-term, it makes sense the club will sit down with super-agent Raiola to work out what happens next with De Ligt.

United were one of many suitors for the former Ajax star prior to him moving to Italy in 2019 and the admiration for a player who has improved immensely in Serie A has not gone away,

The Calciomercato report claims that United, along with Chelsea and Barcelona, are eagerly waiting the outcome of the aforementioned meeting and that the two Premier League clubs have the money to make a deal happen should Juventus look to cash in on one of their more valuable players.

Before De Ligt potentially joins, there's every possibility a former club and current international teammate heads for the door at Old Trafford.

Donny van de Beek continues to be linked with a move away from the club with various reports claiming he's a target for not just Newcastle United following their Saudi Arabian-backed takeover but for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal.

An update from transfer supremo Fabrizio Romano on social media revealed the latest regarding van de Beek's future.

Should his lack of playing time continue at United, the midfielder will leave the club in January.

Though he added that the 24-year-old loves the club and has remained professional throughout a very tough time since joining from Ajax last summer, van de Beek has barely featured for United under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season - making just five appearances for a total of 154 minutes.
