Manchester United target Erling Haaland completes Borussia Dortmund transfer

Manchester United transfer target Erling Haaland has sealed a transfer to German side Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian striker had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, having worked with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when both were at Molde. RB Leipzig and Juventus had also been linked with the 19-year-old, who has boasted a goal record of more than one goal per game with Austrian side RB Salzburg this season.

But Dortmund have landed their man for an undisclosed fee and Haaland will join the Bundesliga side when the transfer window opens in January.

Haaland bagged key Champions League goals against Napoli and Liverpool to prick the attention of some of Europe's biggest clubs.

United's head of global scouting Marcel Bout watched Haaland in their recent European Clash with Liverpool and the Reds were understood to be interested. Solskjaer has identified a forward player as a priority for United, though they may have to wait until the summer.

The move to Dortmund will no doubt accelerate links between United and current BVB winger Jadon Sancho, amid speculation that the former Man City starlet could be set for a return to the Premier League.

The England forward is another player who United have held interest in over the past few months.
