Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot compared to Paul Pogba by teammate

Adrien Rabiot has been compared to Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio in a shining endorsement of the French midfielder by Gianluigi Buffon.

Rabiot is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with his contract at the Parc des Princes due to expire at the end of this month.

The MEN reported in May that United are monitoring Rabiot, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the market for midfield reinforcements following the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini.

“Rabiot is incredible, such a great player,” Buffon told Corriere dello Sport.

“He is also a lovely lad and a fine teammate. I don’t know where the whole media storms surrounding him came from, because the guy I know is world class.

“Rabiot is this fantastic mixture: he has the strength of Pogba, who is built like a wardrobe, the courage of Vidal and potentially the dynamism of Marchisio.

“He has to improve the timing of his runs into the box but can become someone who scores 10 goals per season.”

United view Rabiot as someone who would enhance their midfield and possibly become a long-term replacement for Nemanja Matic, who could be allowed to leave on a free next year.

Meanwhile, United have no intention of letting Pogba leave the club after the 26-year-old said over the weekend that he is ready for a new challenge.

MEN Sport understands Pogba remains in Solskjaer's plans for next season. United are under no pressure to sell their record signing as he has two years left on his contract at Old Trafford and the club has the option to extend that deal by a further year.
