Manchester United target 4 transfer deadline deals as Jadon Sancho hope 'runs out'

Under-fire Manchester United are pushing to land a quadruple deadline day deal after a weekend to forget at Old Trafford.

Uruguay superstar Edinson Cavani is in Manchester as he puts the finishing touches on a two-year contract just 24 hours after the humiliating 6-1 defeat to Tottenham.

The 33-year-old has been a free agent since the start of the window but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward only made an initial move over the weekend.

The Athletic report a loan deal for Ousmane Dembele could still happen with the Barcelona outcast understood to have softened over a potential Nou Camp exit. Port left-back Alex Telles is nearing a £13.5m switch.

A potential agreement for the France international means the end of any last-gasp move for Jadon Sancho is over with David Ornstein stating the protracted saga has "run its course."

United are also adding to players for the future, with rising Atalanta winger Amad Traore expected to seal a switch to the Premier League before tonight's deadline.

The 18-year-old has already had a taste of senior action with the Serie A title challengers but it's understood he has been convinced over a switch to Old Trafford.

And he could be joined by another wide man with Penarol's Facundo Pellistri set to join legendary compatriot Cavani in Manchester.

Lyon were desperate to land him during this window but have been leapfrogged by the Premier League giants in recent days.

The Ligue 1 side admitted defeat and expect Pellistri to complete his move to United in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Chris Smalling is expected to seal a return to Roma in the coming hours as the Serie A side push hard to get the England international back to the Eternal City.

There is also expected to be interest in Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard and Brandon Williams with a host of Premier League and Championship sides looking to bolster their squad.
