Manchester United supporters rage at Premier League defeat by Cardiff

Manchester United dropped points against a second member of the Premier League's relegated clubs in as many weeks to leave United supporters in a state of dismay.

The Reds, who had slim hopes of finishing fifth going into their final day visit of Cardiff, limped to an abject 2-0 defeat by the Bluebirds after a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield last Sunday confirmed their failure to finish in the top four.

United will play in the Europa League for the fourth time in nine seasons next season after squandering the early good work under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which saw the Reds successfully bridge the 11-point gap to the top four.

But eight points from their last nine games cost them dearly and the defeat by Cardiff - who had lost their previous three games - left United supporters ruing the current state of affairs at Old Trafford.

Manchester United player ratings: Mason Greenwood excellent and Jesse Lingard poor vs Cardiff

'Absolute shambles'

'Might as well finish the way we started'

United 'pathetic' since Solskjaer was given full-time role

'Relegation form'

'The lowest moment'

'Gutter'

'A glaring reminder'
