Manchester United suffer major transfer blow; Arsenal leading race for highly-rated winger - Latest Premier League gossip

Premier League clubs are set to dip into the transfer market this summer as they look to improve their squads but top Europe sides are also aiming to rebuild.

There are plenty of big names in Europe on the radar of Premier League sides and vice versa, while potential player moves in Europe could also have a huge impact on sides closer to home.

The rumour mill is beginning to get into overdrive as we get closer to the window opening later this month, so let's take a look at the latest round-up.

De Ligt transfer latest

Matthijs de Ligt to Barcelona feels like a done deal already, especially after it was revealed he has already turned down Manchester United.

But it has now been made clear there is no agreement in place. ESPN are reporting that any deal for De Ligt to join Barcelona remains a distance away.

Barcelona are odds-on favourites to land the 19-year-old after already agreeing to sign his Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong.

The Ajax defender is set to leave the Netherlands this summer but the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid still remain in the hunt.

Barcelona, however, are believed to have a 'loose agreement' in place for Barcelona to pay a potential fee of €80 for Ligt.

Arsenal leading race for Pepe

Arsenal are the front runners to land Nicolas Pepe from Lille, according to France Football .

The winger has been linked with a move away from France but it's understood Arsenal are now stepping up that interest.

Arsenal, who are all-but out of the race for the top four and now focused on qualifying for the Champions League by winning the Europa League, are said to have opened talks with the 23-year-old winger.

Godin set for Inter move

Diego Godin has confirmed that he is leaving Atletico Madrid after nine years ahead of an anticipated move to Inter Milan.

The 33-year-old has admitted that he turned down Manchester United last summer and is now set for the Serie A.

It has been reported by ESPN that Godin will agree a three-year deal for around just under €7m a year.

It's also been suggested that United chose not to go back in for Godin this summer due to his wage demands.

Man City eye teenager

Benfica starlet Joao Felix is edging closer to a Premier League move, according to Sky Sports .

The 19-year-old has impressed in Portugal since bursting onto the scene last year and is now courting the attention of Pep Guardiola.

Not only that, it's reported that Man City are preparing to bid for the teenager after finalising a deal for Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes.

Felix has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season and that’s not gone unnoticed by the Blues, who are again looking to make a splash in the transfer market this summer.
