Manchester United suffer David de Gea injury scare ahead of Liverpool FC clash

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was substituted for Spain during their EURO 2020 qualifier against Sweden with a suspected groin injury.

De Gea returned to the starting XI in place of Chelsea shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga and made a fantastic save to deny Robin Quaison but picked up a problem after the interval.

The United man was replaced with Arrizabalaga on the hour mark after suffering a groin problem when kicking the ball.

His injury hands a fresh selection headache to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a crucial Premier League fixture against fierce rivals Liverpool on the horizon.

The extent of De Gea's injury is currently unknown but backup goalkeeper Sergio Romero would start between the sticks for Solskjaer's men if the Spaniard was ruled out.

MEN Sport will keep you updated on the severity of the injury when more information becomes available.
