Manchester United suffer Axel Tuanzebe injury blow ahead of Liverpool FC game

Axel Tuanzebe is a late drop-out from Manchester United's team to face Liverpool, after picking up an injury in the warm-up.

Marcos Rojo has been called into the United side to replace Tuanzebe, coming onto the left side of what appears to be a three-man United back line.

It is understood Tuanzebe picked up a hip strain in the pre-match warm ups, having initially been picked to start.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ashley Young would be the wing-backs if United play that system, though some have speculated that Young could play higher up on the left-wing — meaning Rojo may be the left-back.

Tuanzebe has impressed when given the chance to start by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

He was one of the better performers in United's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James' Park in their last Premier League outing, impressing alongside Harry Maguire at the back. He's also captained United in the Carabao Cup, when they overcame Rochdale on penalties.

Solskjaer was coy when asked by Sky Sports pre-match about whether it would be a back three for United.

“Our approach is to go out there and try to win the game," he said. We’ve got to be on the front foot and play forward as much as we can.”

Amended United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Young, Maguire, Lindelof, Rojo, McTominay, Fred, Pereira, James, Rashford.
