Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford hailed as a 'revelation' by Liverpool FC great Jamie Carragher

Jamie Carragher has hailed Marcus Rashford for making the difference for Manchester United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as manager.

The Norwegian has been credited for improving a whole host of players in United's squad including Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.

But, Carragher believes it has been the transformation of Rashford which has been most impressive.

"Rashford has just been a revelation since Solskjaer has come in," Carragher told Sky Sports. "He’s been the one for me. People talk about Paul Pogba a lot but for me Rashford has been the real difference. He looks like a Manchester United forward now. He’s a constant threat.

"Solsjkaer has not just got results but has had an impact on individual players. He’s the man for the next two or three years and the question is can they get back to challenging for major titles?"

Treble winner Andy Cole also spoke about the importance of Rashford to United as he said Solskjaer should be looking to build a team around him.

“Rashford has got all of the ability in the world but you could tell his confidence was waning under the previous manager, it was getting lower and lower,” Cole told  Sky Sports .

“Ole has gone in there and said to him ‘we all know how good you are, just believe in yourself’, and he’s done that. When Rashford first came into the team we all knew what he could do. He kind of went away from that a little but now he’s back doing what he’s good at.

“He’s a baby, of course you can [build the team around him]. He came out the other day and said he was prepared to sign a new contract, so he’s telling everyone he wants to stay not only for the short haul but the long haul.

“You’ve got to build your team around the local boys, I was fortunate to do that in my time at Manchester United. Rashford will be one of the mainstays at the football club.”
