Manchester United striker Anthony Martial singled out for praise by Dimitar Berbatov

Dimitar Berbatov reckons the forwards currently available to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are good enough to take Manchester United forward.

Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all reached double figures for goals last season but each player was outscored by the central midfielder Paul Pogba.

Lukaku and Pogba could both leave United this summer, which would leave a heavy burden on the likes of Rashford and Martial next season if the Reds don't recruit goal-scoring replacements.

United are interested in signing Bruno Fernandes, the Sporting CP midfielder who scored 32 goals in all competitions last season.

However, Berbatov is not of the opinion that United need reinforcements further forward as he believes the strikers at the club, Anthony Martial in particular, are of the requisite quality to earn the club success.

"I'm not the coach. So it's not my job to say that. But I think the strikers are good enough. I like them, especially Anthony Martial, because I used to play with him in Monaco. I know how good he is," Berbatov told Xinhuanet.

"And I think he can be even better with the right training sessions, with the right attitude, and with the right guidance from the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"Because he was a striker, one of the best in the world, so you can go easily to the manager and ask for advice like how to score, how to move, how to round. So to be honest, I don't think they need someone new in the front line," he added.

Berbatov added that he believes United made the right decision by giving Solskjaer the manager's job.

"Sometimes you have good seasons and sometimes you have bad seasons,” Berbatov said. “Hopefully, this season will be better for the team.

"We have the right guy as the coach and probably we’re going to buy some new players to strengthen the team. But overall, I think we have everything we need to go and win the title again.”
