Manchester United step up Moussa Dembele hunt and 'watch' former Celtic striker in last three games

Manchester United are eyeing a January bid for Moussa Dembele , according to a report.

The Old Trafford giants were heavily linked with the Lyon star during the summer but failed to land a striker – despite losing Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

Now Mail Online state Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had the former Celtic man watched three times and he is an option to solve their crisis upfront.

As well as selling Lukaku, Manchester United also flogged Alexis Sanchez and are without Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as well due to injury.

United sent scouts to Lyon’s draw with Brest on Wednesday – when Dembele scored – and Sunday’s match against Paris Saint-Germain. It is said they also watched the 23-year-old in Champions League action against Zenit St Petersburg.

Any move for Dembele would land Celtic more millions. As well as selling him to the Ligue 1 side for £19.9million, they also inserted a sell-on clause in his contract for around 10 per cent. A future sale – figures of £60m have already been quoted – would see the Scottish champions rake in a further £6m.

The former France U21 frontman has already scored six goals in the French league this season.
