Manchester United starting line up vs Sheffield United includes Brandon Williams

Manchester United's starting line-up against Sheffield United has been confirmed.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named a makeshift midfield due to injuries to first-choice duo Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay, with Fred and Andreas Pereira expected to start in a two.

Solskjaer appears to have opted to play with a back three and wing-backs, with Phil Jones, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in front of David de Gea, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams on the flanks.

Sergio Romero is a surprise absentee from the squad, while Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic and Timothy Fosu-Mensah remain unavailable.

Matej Kovar, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong were part of United's 21-man provisional squad that arrived at Bramall Lane 90 minutes before kick-off but all three have been culled.

United are targeting a sixth win in seven games having shown a marked improvement on their early season form of late.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side beat FK Partizan twice, Norwich, Chelsea and Brighton, drew with Liverpool and lost to Bournemouth in their seven fixtures between the October and November international breaks.

Sheffield United are unbeaten since their defeat by Liverpool at the end of September.

United's starting line-up vs Sheffield United: De Gea; Jones, Maguire, Lindelof; Wan-Bissaka, Pereira, Fred, Williams; James, Martial, Rashford

Substitutes: Grant, Tuanzebe, Young, Garner, Lingard, Mata, Greenwood
