Manchester United starlet Hannibal called up for major international tournament

Manchester United starlet Hannibal Mejbri has been named in the senior Tunisia side for the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup.

Mejbri, 18, was named as part of a 23-man squad for the tournament which will begin at the end of the month and takes place in Qatar.

The teenage attacking talent previously represented France at youth level but chose to switch his allegiance to Tunisia earlier in the year and has already made three international appearances.

Mejbri was eligible to play for Tunisia because both his mother and his father were born there and he could represent his nation when they face the United Arab Emirates, Syria and Mauritania in the group stages of the tournament.

It marks the end of a memorable week for the former Monaco youngster after he made his long-awaited return for United at youth level on Friday night.

Mejbri grabbed a brilliant assist as he made his first appearance since September in United's U23s 1-1 draw with Derby, setting up Charlie McNeill with a precise pass from the halfway line.

The youngster is highly rated at United and once again trained with the senior stars this week as he continued his comeback from injury.

Mejbri made his senior United debut on the final day of last season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side won 2-1 away at Wolves.
