Manchester United starlet Dylan Levitt hoping for first-team breakthrough under Erik ten Hag

Dylan Levitt is hopeful that he can spy an opportunity in the Manchester United first team under incoming boss Erik ten Hag.

The club announced on Thursday that the 52-year-old will arrive at Old Trafford on a three-year deal with an option for a further 12 months. The Ajax manager is renowned for developing youth players, having nurtured the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and Donny Van de Beek during his time in Amsterdam.

Levitt has admitted he and his United youth teammates are excited by his impending arrival and will be hoping to edge his way into Ten Hag’s plans once he returns from his loan spell at Dundee United. Speaking to The Courier, he admitted: “I still keep in touch with boys at United frequently and they are excited about the new manager.

"When you hear a new manager is coming in, it gives a buzz about the place.” He added: “With the new manager going in at United, hopefully I’ll get a chance.

"My contract is up in the summer and it hasn’t been spoken about. Hopefully, I will hear something in the next few weeks.”

Despite suffering a number of minor injuries, 21-year-old Levitt has had a solid season in Scotland and has impressed many onlookers. His ultimate hope is to start seeing senior action at Old Trafford, but for now he is committed to helping Dundee United earn a European spot.

“I’d love to be able to go back (to Manchester United) and make an impact — it’s everyone’s dream to do that,” he said. “However, I need to focus on the here and now, and that’s Dundee United.

“To get European football, we will have to go up another level and play with confidence and no fear. Everyone knows how big it would be to take the club back to Europe, for the players and the fans.”
