Manchester United star Raphael Varane provides injury update as recovery continues

Raphael Varane has admitted he still has to adapt to the rigours of English football as he continues to recover from his latest injury setback.

Varane has suffered plenty of injuries throughout his career and his start to life in Manchester has been no different after already missing 12 games due to two different ailments.

The centre-back missed three games after suffering a groin injury in the Nations League final for France and was just 38 minutes into his second game back, the 2-2 draw with Atalanta, when he suffered a hamstring injury.

Varane has now not played for over a month, missing a further nine games so far, with departed caretaker manager Michael Carrick saying prior to the victory over Arsenal that he is still a while away from a return.

However, Varane has promised he is working to get back as quickly as possible and on adapting to the more physical Premier League after a decade spent in La Liga with Real Madrid.

"Yes, I'm working very hard and, you know, footballers are like Formula 1 [cars] so sometimes we have to change something and to improve the motor," he told United's in-house media.

"I have to change a little thing because it's a big difference and a big change.

"The kind of work is different work so I have to adapt, I know that. And I'm working very hard to be at my best fitness possible. I know it's big work but I'm ready to fight and improve.

"I'm very excited to come back to help the team."
