Manchester United star Paul Pogba sets goal target and hints at position switch desire

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has set himself the target of scoring 15 goals next season.

The France international is looking to build upon his attacking threat and has joked he would also like to play in a more advanced role if possible.

Pogba has often struggled to replicate his international form at club level, something which he partly puts down to the defensive responsibility required in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The 28-year-old netted six times for United during the past season, while his highest goal tally in a single season is 16 goals across all competitions in the 2018/19 campaign.

During the last campaign Pogba played his best football in an unorthodox left-wing role, something which allowed him to play with more freedom with a concentration on attacking creativity rather than defensive work.

Pogba admits he would love to try and add even more goals to his game in the years ahead although he reiterated that the greater need of his team will always take priority over any personal ambitions.

"I would like to play more offensive," Pogba laughed when asked of his ambitions in an interview alongside Patrick Vieira by L’Equipe. "To score fifteen goals per season is what I would like."

“But Patrick said it, we must put ourselves at the service of the collective. In Manchester, as in blue (the France team), the collective will always come before the player.”
