Manchester United star Paul Pogba posts fresh injury update ahead of Liverpool FC clash

Manchester United star midfielder Paul Pogba has seemingly revealed he is edging closer to a return to fitness, which must come as a massive relief to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It has been a terrible start to the season for United - who only have nine points on the board in the Premier League after eight games - and the issues have been further compounded by the absence of Pogba.

It's been a stop-start season for the World Cup winner who has missed five of United's first 11 games in all competitions due to a persisting ankle injury.

Pogba initially picked up the ankle knock in the 1-1 draw at Southampton which caused him to pull out of the France squad for the September international break and miss United's following three fixtures against Leicester, Astana and West Ham.

He returned in the Carabao Cup clash against Rochdale and although there were reports he had suffered another knock he played the full 90 minutes five days later against Arsenal.

However, Pogba then would miss the trip to the Netherlands to face Alkmaar as Solskjaer didn't want to risk his ankle on an artificial pitch and he also wasn't involved in the latest defeat at Newcastle.

United have keenly felt the loss of Pogba's influence in the middle of the park but it appears that he could be back in action soon, perhaps for the visit of Liverpool after the international break.

The 26-year-old has posted a video of himself on Instagram putting in some heavy cardio work, alongside the caption: "Almost there.

"Show off or motivation, you choose?

"Same result at the end anyway."

However, in the video his right ankle is heavily bandaged and he isn't wearing a shoe on that foot, which suggests there is still some healing to be done.
