Manchester United star Paul Pogba pokes fun at penalty critics with latest run-up

Paul Pogba is using his bizarre penalty technique to get about in everyday life, so it would seem.

The Manchester United star took 30 steps in his run-up to a spot kick against Everton on Sunday, taking longer than it took Usain Bolt to run his world record 100m sprint.

While Jordan Pickford saved his effort, Pogba tucked away the rebound to spare his blushes.

The France international has admitted he will have to change his technique from 12 yards after missing his second penalty of the season.

The midfielder has taken some of the criticism directed at him in good humour, sharing a video of himself leaving his house with the familiar stuttering run alongside the caption: ‘How do I get I get to my car?’

Jose Mourinho has agreed Pogba may have to change his approach but has vowed not to take him off spot kick duties.

“The thing I like is the desire to take it,” he said. “Let me choose the words, I don’t want to be punished. I don’t like Mickey Mouses, fragile, afraid to go, ‘I don’t take penalties.’

“I like the player that is ‘I want to take it.’”
