Manchester United star opens up on agony of watching Liverpool win Champions League final

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw believes Liverpool and Chelsea ruined his summer holidays.

The Reds lifted the Champions League in Madrid shortly after Chelsea triumphed in the Europa League final against Arsenal.

With United struggling for form, Shaw says it was difficult to watch rivals enjoy success.

"Last season was so hurtful for everyone," he said.

"As a team were very hurt. It was really tough for all of us to take and you couldn’t really enjoy your holidays.

"You see the Champions League final and the Europa League final and they’re all English teams.

"It makes you feel even worse – especially the way the finals went. None of us want that to happen again."

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's side watched on as their two rivals battled it out for the Premier League title.

United slumped to a sixth placed finish which guarantees Europa League football next term.

Liverpool and Manchester City will resume battle on August 4 at Wembley for the Community Shield.

Jurgen Klopp's squad will also look to add Super Cup glory to their honours list 10 days later as they face Chelsea in Istanbul.
