Manchester United star Marcus Rashford provides brilliant update on the impact of his charity work

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has taken to social media to provide an update on the impact of his work with FareShare UK.

The England international partnered with the charity last month amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"Across the UK there are over 32,000 schools. Tomorrow all of these will close. Many of the children attending these schools rely on free meals,” he wrote in an Instagram post when announcing the partnership.

"So I've spent the last few days talking to organisations to understand how this deficit is going to be filled during the closures.

"I wanted to understand the scale of the problem and now we can reach vulnerable children. It's not just schools. It's community centres, breakfast clubs, etc that provide the only meal many kids get each day.

"No children should have to worry where their next meal is coming from.

"Fareshare distributes food to 11,000 different organisations across the UK, reaching almost 1m people a week. Today I'm partnering with them to rework how food is distributed during the closure, with the aim that no child is missed."

The coronavirus pandemic has led to school closures mean that schoolchildren who usually rely on free school dinners could potentially go without.

Taking to Twitter, Rashford has given the latest update confirming just how many children have been helped by the charity and sent a message to fans.

“And the good news keeps coming. As of this morning our @FareShareUK campaign is reaching 1.76million vulnerable children in the UK who relied on free school meals. Look what we can do when we work as a team, amazing. Thank you.” he wrote.

Rashford has also joined up with his fellow Premier League players to take part in the #PlayersTogether campaign which aims to raise some much-needed money for the NHS in order to help amid the pandemic.
