Manchester United star Marcus Rashford hints at opposition to European Super League

Marcus Rashford shared a picture of Sir Matt Busby's famous quote about fans amid continued uproar following the announcement of a European Super League.

Manchester United are one of 12 founding teams who have announced plans to form a new breakaway 'Super League' which would see them withdraw from current Uefa competition.

The 'Super League' would be a midweek competition which the founding clubs intend to commence as 'soon as practicable'.

A press release launched late on Sunday night confirmed reports that emerged earlier in the day, with United co-chairman Joel Glazer backing the plans to form the new tournament.

The news sparked widespread outrage at all levels of English football and no United officials have yet gone on record to address the concerns raised.

Bruno Fernandes shared a message on social media hinting at his disagreement with the plans, while former midfielder Ander Herrera condemned the proposals on his own personal account.

Now Rashford appears to have dropped a hint about his own feelings over the ESL by sharing a picture of a banner inside Old Trafford which carries a famous quote from legendary manager Busby.

Taking to social media the England international simply tweeted a picture of the Stretford End banner which reads 'Football is nothing without fans'.

United are drawing inspiration from Busby's trailblazing venture into the European Cup with their support for the widely-condemned Super League.

Senior club sources delusionally believe there are parallels with the 'defiance' of Busby and the current regime's support for the Super League, a 20-team concept that would end United's participation in the Champions League.
