Manchester United star Edinson Cavani drops fitness hint before Arsenal game

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has dropped a timely hint over his fitness before the Arsenal game.

Having been made to play second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo this season, the former PSG man combined with the Portugal captain to devastating effect against Tottenham, both finding the net during that 3-0 victory.

It's been a time of change for United since then, though.

Indeed, Ralf Rangnick has been appointed as interim manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's high-profile sacking, while Michael Carrick oversaw games against Villarreal and Chelsea as caretaker.

Cavani was missing for those and has not played for United since November 2 — the 2-2 draw with Atalanta — due to an ongoing tendon problem.

But could the 34-year-old Uruguay striker be set for a Premier League return on Thursday night?

Addressing his 9.1million followers on Instagram, the popular frontman has posted a picture of him celebrating for United with a less-than-cryptic caption that indicates he could be about to return when the Old Trafford giants get down to business against the Gunners.

Coupled with a trademark bow and arrow emoji, he said: "Those moments that are not forgotten."

Cavani has scored 18 goals in 47 appearances for United since touching down in the Premier League last summer.

It was initially expected that he would leave Old Trafford last summer after 12 months, amid suggestions he wanted to return to closer to his family in South America, but the 126-cap international penned an extension to his contract — before the club went on to seal a sensation deal to re-sign Ronaldo.

United will give official pre-Arsenal teams during their press conference on Wednesday, with Mason Greenwood and Luke Shaw among those also battling to return.
