Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo wins Premier League Player of the Month

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Premier League's Player of the Month for his first month back.

Ronaldo made a stunning return to Old Trafford in the summer from Juventus - scoring five goals in his first seven games in September.

In September, Ronaldo would score three goals, including two on his second debut for the club against Newcastle and one against West Ham.

The three other players who were nominated had been Mohamed Salah, Joao Cancelo, Antonio Rudiger, Allan Saint-Maximin and Ismaila Sarr.

Ronaldo's goals have not been limited to the Premier League. He has also scored twice in the Champions League for United, including that dramatic 95th-minute winner over Villarreal.

It is the fifth time Ronaldo has won the award, matching Wayne Rooney's record for a serving Manchester United player.

Ronaldo is today expected to be named as one of the nominee's for this year's Ballon D'Or.

Ronaldo, a five-time winner of the award, will hope to equal Lionel Messi's record of six when the winner is named in November.
