Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes reveals what really happened after Victor Lindelof altercation

Bruno Fernandes says neither him nor Victor Lindelof took their heated altercation to heart following Manchester United's exit from the Europa League last month.

United were forced to endure another trophyless season when they were knocked out of the Europa League by eventual champions Sevilla at the semi-final stage.

Fernandes had given United the lead early on in the match before goals from Suso and Luuk de Jong saw Sevilla come from behind to secure a gritty 2-1 win over the single leg tie.

United defender Lindelof was widely criticised for his role in De Jong's winning goal and Fernandes was seen having a heated discussion with the Swede before the game resumed in Cologne.

Fernandes was keen to play down the incident after the game and now he has revealed what really happened between the two once the match was over.

"(He) speak very well," Fernandes joked with A Bola about Lindelof's ablity to argue in Portuguese.

"He is one of the people with whom I have the best relationship in the club, also because he speaks Portuguese, and as everyone saw he speaks well, those were obviously the first words he learned in Portugal, it is always what we teach them.

"But it was a game situation that none took to heart. It ended and we went directly to our countries, he to Sweden and I to Portugal, and at the farewell we hugged, we leaned our heads and didn't even need to talk to each other, we stayed there for those two seconds hugging and we realized what we wanted to say to the other."
