Manchester United star Anthony Martial's red card will have a huge impact on Chelsea and Arsenal

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial saw red in a dramatic first half against Tottenham Hotspur.

Martial was sent off in the 28th minute of Sunday's Premier League showdown at Old Trafford following an off-the-ball clash with Erik Lamela.

Replays showed that Martial had retaliated to a push from Lamela, who escaped without punishment.

Having ruled that Martial caught Lamela in the face, referee Anthony Taylor gave the Frenchman his marching orders.

With the offence classed as violent conduct, that means Martial now faces a three-match Premier League ban.

As such, assuming the red card is not overturned, he will miss the upcoming fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Here is a list of the matches Martial will be suspended for:

Sat Oct 17 Newcastle United (a)

Sat Oct 24 Chelsea (h)

Sun Nov 1 Arsenal (h)

United have two Champions League matches during that period - against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig - but the suspension only applies to league games.

Martial will next be available for a Premier League fixture away at Everton on November 7.

Spurs led 4-1 at the interval against United, despite conceding an early opener.
