Manchester United stance on Sean Longstaff transfer revealed

Manchester United have no interest in signing Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff.

Reports have emerged linking United with a move for the 21-year-old midfielder, who impressed for Newcastle under Rafa Benitez this season.

But the MEN understands United do not intend to pursue a move for Longstaff this summer as part of the rebuilding process under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Newcastle academy prospect made nine appearances this season before his campaign was cut short by a knee ligament injury.

While he fits the profile of United's intended transfer targets this summer, in being a young, British prospect, a move to sign him isn't on the agenda at Old Trafford.

Longstaff is contracted at St James' Park until 2022, a deal he signed last year, but he could be rewarded with another new contract after establishing himself in the side.
