Manchester United stance on Paul Pogba amid transfer comments

Manchester United still believe Paul Pogba will be at the club next season despite recent comments from the player which have hinted at a move away.

Speaking to the press on Sunday the France international admitted he was looking for a 'new challenge' in his career and admitted he could leave the club in the summer transfer window.

However, MEN Sport understand the club currently have no intentions to part with their club record signing this summer and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still sees him in his plans for next season.

Pogba sparked fresh uncertainty over his future this weekend when he told reporters in Tokyo: "I am thinking of this: To have a new challenge somewhere else. After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well... I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge."

It is worth noting Pogba still has two years remaining on his current United contract with the option of an additional year which can be extended by the club, so there is no pressure for him to be sold.

Recent speculation has linked the 26-year-old with a move to Real Madrid, and reappointed Real coach Zinedine Zidane has already reiterated his desire to work with the United midfielder one day.

Zidane lobbied Real president Florentino Perez to sign Pogba from Juventus three years ago but Perez refused to match United's £89million offer. Pogba was initially intent on moving to Madrid but his agent Mino Raiola advised him to rejoin United on the proviso Pogba would move to Spain after three years.

Speaking towards the back end of last season United manager Solskjaer reiterated his desire to keep the France international at Old Trafford next season.

"You can't guarantee anything in football but yes, I think Paul is gonna be here, I can assure you he's now very determined to succeed at Man United," Solskjaer said.
