Manchester United stalemate keeps Erik ten Hag in danger, Spurs rocked by Brighton

NEW DELHI: Erik ten Hag maintains he has the support of Manchester United's management despite a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday, adding to a difficult season start.

The draw leaves United in 14th place in the Premier League with just two wins from seven games.

Bruno Fernandes hit the bar with a second-half free kick, while Diogo Dalot's block prevented Villa's Jaden Philogene from scoring. Ten Hag's side has not won in five consecutive games across all competitions.

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who attended the match, did not confirm Ten Hag's job security earlier. However, Ten Hag remains optimistic. He stated, "We always speak, we speak every week. We are all onboard together, on one page."

In another match, Tottenham Hotspur squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Brighton. Goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison initially put Tottenham ahead, but Brighton responded with goals from Yankuba Minteh, Georginio Rutter, and Danny Welbeck. This result is Tottenham's third defeat in seven league games.

Earlier, Chelsea drew 1-1 with 10-man Nottingham Forest. Chris Wood scored for Forest, while Noni Madueke equalized for Chelsea. Despite Forest's James Ward-Prowse receiving a red card, Chelsea could not secure a win.

This result leaves Chelsea in fourth place in the league going into the international break.
