Manchester United staff member leaves the club

Manchester United's head of strength and conditioning Gary Walker has left the club after 11 years.

Walker joined in March 2008 under Sir Alex Ferguson and stayed at the club under the four managers which followed the Scot's retirement in 2013.

He confirmed via his Twitter account he was leaving United after 11 years and sent his best wishes to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"All good things must come to an end," Walker wrote. "After 11 years, the time has come to leave this great club. I've had some amazing experiences and made some incredible friends and memories.

"A huge thank you to all of the managers, staff and players that I have worked with. I wish Ole and the lads all the best for the end of the season and huge success in the future. And now onto the next challenge."

Manchester United stance on managerial appointment revealed

Walker is moving to America to join FC Cincinnati who play in the MLS.

Gary Neville was one of the a number of well wishers as he tweeted 'Well done Gaz' in reply to the former United man.

Current United players including Ander Herrera and Juan Mata both sent their wishes to Walker via posts on their Instagram stories.

Walker is the second member of United's medical sports and science team to leave the club this month. Robin Thorpe, who joined United in 2009, and was head of recovery and regeneration left the club earlier in the month after 10 years at Old Trafford.
