Manchester United slap £30million price tag on defender Chris Smalling

Manchester United have slapped a £30million valuation on Chris Smalling – and won't let him leave on loan in this window.

United are also prepared to listen to last-day cash offers for Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo – with Everton interested in the versatile Argentinian defender - but aren't interested in loan moves, preferring them off the wage bill completely.

Everton failed in a bid to take the 29 year old defender on a season-long loan deal and were rocked when United said they'd only consider a permanent deal – at £30million.

Despite the arrival of Harry Maguire in an £80million world record fee and the certainty he'll be partnered with Swedish international Victor Lindelof as the first-choice centre-back pairing, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still sees Smalling as a valuable part of United's squad.

Smalling signed for United from Fulham in 2010 and has gone on to score 18 goals in 323 games for the Red Devils.

The 31-cap England international has won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Europa League crown during his time at Old Trafford.
