Manchester United shown to be among the Premier League's dirtiest teams

Manchester United have been ranked as the second-dirtiest team in the Premier League, according to a new table that has been created.

Stats from Football Observatory via InStat show Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side commit a foul every seven minutes and 56 seconds in the Premier League this season.

Overall, that makes a total of 429 fouls over the course of the campaign and puts them among the dirtiest teams in the division, behind only Fulham.

Scott Parker's side have given away 435 fouls this season at a rate of one every 7 minutes and 46 seconds, putting them slightly ahead of United.

Sheffield United, another relegated side, complete the top three, with Chelsea and Tottenham then following to complete the top five.

At the other end of the scale, Arsenal are the Premier League’s cleanest side with only 307 fouls to their name.

Of the 31 leagues surveyed by InStat, comprising hundreds of different clubs, the Gunners rank fourth overall.

Manchester City are the second-fairest team in the Premier League, ahead of top-four chasing West Ham and Liverpool.

While United's ranking in the Premier League is extremely high, it pales in comparison to other clubs across European football.

Greek outfits PAS Giannina and Volos NFC are considered the dirtiest teams of them all, with the pair having been reprimanded for a foul every 4 minutes and 51 seconds so far this season.
