Manchester United must act fast to snap up the bargain of the January transfer window - Lucas Digne.
The 28-year-old expressed his interest to leave Everton sooner rather than later this weekend according to manager Rafa Benitez.
Really, who could blame him?
Everton have been poor this season under Benitez and, sitting in 15th, there is a very real possibility that the Merseyside club could be dragged into a relegation scrap.
Digne has not proven his worth this season but he certainly has over the course of his career in the blue half of Liverpool.
He has gained seven assists in both of his two previous seasons in the Premier League.
In the 2018/19 season Digne’s tally of 52 chances created was higher than any other defender in Europe’s top-five leagues, while his 280 crosses was the most provided by any player in England’s top division.
With three years on his contract, it is likely that he would command a reasonable fee but surely the Toffees will not want him round the club for much longer.
Rafa's club is already in turmoil, the last thing they will want is for a player to upset the apple cart further.
Thus United need to act sharply and decisively in order to not miss out.
Digne is a player who, on his day, would be better than Alex Telles and provide impressive competition for Luke Shaw who has also failed to pull up any trees since the Euros.
January is a time to strengthen and a player like Digne could only help United in the pursuit of Champions League football.
