Manchester United are set to hand JJ Gabriel a chance to stake a claim for a first-team spot.

The young forward is making a name for himself in United's youth ranks, racking up 21 goals in 23 appearances for the Under-18s side this season.

Such form has reportedly attracted admiring glances from elsewhere, which has seen United map out a path to the first team for the 15-year-old.

United are set to include more academy players than usual in their pre-season tour squad, due to the 2026 World Cup running until the middle of July.

It will see Gabriel afforded minutes in a first-team setting as the squad travels across Europe to prepare for the new Premier League season.

Manchester Evening News report that United are in talks to finalise matches in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe, and Gabriel will be included in the tour squad.

The step up from U18s to a de facto first-team squad looks steep on paper without experience at U21 level first, but Gabriel was blocked from playing for Adam Lawrence's Premier League 2 side as he was just 14 years old when the season began.

United, MEN report, would be at risk of fines if Gabriel turned out for the U21s or was included in a Premier League first-team squad this season due to his age, but have been able to involve the 15-year-old in senior training on occasion.

United think very highly of Gabriel, and this promise of first-team exposure is the next step in what the club hopes leads to the young forward becoming a future star.
