Manchester United 'set to complete signing' after Ajax confirm young star is leaving the club

Manchester United are being tipped to sign young Ajax star Dillon Hoogewerf after the Dutch side confirmed the teenager will be leaving the club this summer.

The 16-year-old impressed for Ajax Under-17s last season and is considered to be one of the most promising prospects in their youth set up.

However, he has decided against signing professional terms with the Amsterdam club and the club's Said Ouaali, head of Ajax's youth academy, confirmed the teenager is leaving and reports in the Netherlands claim he is expected to join United.

"Dillon has indicated last week that he will leave the club." Oualli told Ajax TV. "He is leaving for a foreign club. We wish him a lot of success and know that we have done everything to keep him.

"He may ultimately make the choice and choose a foreign adventure."

Voetbal International report the teenager is 'probably' going to United.

The 16-year-old isn't the only young star to be linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks. Reports in France claim United are keen on signing Monaco teenager Hannibal Mejbri.

There's a chance United could land him on a free transfer as his family are currently in the process of trying to annul his contract which runs until 2021.
