Manchester United 'set David de Gea contract deadline'

Manchester United have told David de Gea to make a final decision on his future by the end of the week, according to reports.

The goalkeeper, 28, has been offered a new contract at Old Trafford with his current deal expiring at the end of next season.

Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be interested in his services, with current no.1 Gianluigi Buffon, 41, reaching the end of his career, and De Gea is known to be keen to add a Champions League medal to his collection.

United are all but guaranteed to miss out on a top-four berth this season after a wretched run squandered the positive start made under Solskjaer, with the Reds successfully bridging the 11-points gap to fourth place.

It will leave the Reds with Europa League football next season and the Sun report that United want clarity over de Gea's future by next weekend.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph report that United will be offered the chance to sign Keylor Navas, the no.2 goalkeeper at Real Madrid, in the summer.

Navas was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2015 when de Gea was a malfunctioning fax machine away from singing on at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It is thought that Madrid want to offload the 32-year-old Costa Rica international in a bid to bolster their chances of signing United midfielder Paul Pogba in the summer.

The Daily Mail report that the Reds will listen to offers in the region of £160 million for the World Cup winner, who stated in March that it would be 'a dream' to play for Zinedine Zidane at the club.
