Manchester United sent Scott McTominay transfer warning

Manchester United favourite Brian McClair feels that the club could risk losing Scott McTominay if isn't a regular in the side.

McTominay initially struggled in the United first team after being thrown into the deep end by former manager Jose Mourinho, but he has since gone on to develop into one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's most important players.

The all-action midfielder was enjoying a solid campaign and had started all but two Premier League matches until he picked up a knee injury on Boxing Day which would rule him out for two months.

When McTominay made his long-awaited return he found a midfield that had improved significantly in his absence, thanks to the arrival of Bruno Fernandes and the resurgent form of Nemanja Matic.

The Scot started just once in the league since his return before the season was curtailed by the coronavirus outbreak and McClair is concerned that another top team may move to sign him.

"Scott McTominay is just slightly unfortunate not to make it into the team," he told Superstar Speakers.

"I think that McTominay, if he stays at Manchester United, will be a great player for Manchester United. It’s a similar thing to Darren Fletcher. He’s come through the youth system, he wants it, he’s a Manchester United fan, he’s determined. He’s overcome several situations with regards to growth spurts, injury and illness. ‘

"I think he can be a Manchester United great. I hope that he remains at Manchester United for long enough for that to occur but it would not surprise me if there were other clubs looking to recruit him in the not-too-distant future."
