Manchester United sent Paul Pogba injury message by France manager Didier Deschamps

France boss Didier Deschamps says Paul Pogba will need more game time before he can rediscover his top form.

The Manchester United midfielder only recently returned to action following a thigh injury, which had kept him sidelined for six weeks.

Pogba came off the bench at half-time in the Europa League last-16 second leg against AC Milan at the San Siro - and he scored the only goal of the game as United went through 2-1 on aggregate.

He then started the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium last Sunday, playing just over an hour during the 3-1 defeat.

Pogba is currently away on international duty with France - and was brought on as a 63rd-minute substitute in their opening 2022 World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on Wednesday.

It ended 1-1 at the Stade de France, as Antoine Griezmann's opener was cancelled out by Presnel Kimpembe's own goal.

Speaking about Pogba at his latest press conference, Deschamps said (via Goal ): "He is not at his best, obviously.

"On his entry against Ukraine, it also coincided with a period where the French team was not playing well. These 30 minutes are good for him. Like any player who returns from an injury, it will take time.

"The situation in November, he came with little playing time, it did not prevent him from making a great game against Portugal.

"He needs game time to perfect his physical condition."

France are back in action tomorrow (March 28), away to Kazakhstan, before facing Bosnia & Herzegovina in Sarajevo on Wednesday (March 31).
