Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has sent a message to new Manchester United signing Bruno Fernandes, who has made a transfer move from Sporting Lisbon.
The 25-year-old has made an initial £46.56milion switch to the Premier League after endless speculation about his future.
United were frustrated by planted stories in the Portuguese media during the 2019 summer window as their interest stretched no further than mere admiration.
But they managed a breakthrough in negotiations this week amid links with Fernandes and Barcelona.
The attacking midfielder has been outstanding in the last couple of seasons, scoring 20 league goals last term and eight in 17 matches this term, with 20 assists across the two campaigns as well.
Fernandes has also starred for the Portuguese national side alongside City's Silva, who had a message for his compatriot ahead of the permanent transfer.
"I'm very happy for him. It's a big step for his career, which he deserves," Silva told A Bola, per Mirror Football. "He's going to play for one of the best clubs in the world.
"We're going to be rivals but I wish him the best, apart from against us, obviously.
"I'm pleased he'll be in Manchester and I hope we can go out to dinner from time to time.
"Changing country is always difficult, but it's not Bruno's first experience abroad and with the quality he has he'll adapt well."
