Manchester United send Reading warning ahead of WSL clash

Casey Stoney's Manchester United side now have the belief they can beat anyone after their win against Man City in the derby last weekend.

United ran out 2-0 winners over Nick Cushing's table topping City side at Leigh Sports Village thanks to goals from Katie Zelem and Jess Sigsworth and it's given the players the confidence to continue their unbeaten run.

Having lost their opening two games of the new campaign Stoney's side have gone on a three game unbeaten run and next up is Reading in the league on Sunday.

But last weekend's victory has given the squad an added confidence boost.

"I think the win against City is very important because as a team we now believe in ourselves and the game plan because we can beat the top teams now. Just go into every game and believe we can beat anyone," United forward Kirsty Hanson told MEN Sport.

The key for United now is keeping hold of that momentum and with City playing Arsenal it gives Stoney's side a chance to push into the top three with victory at Leigh Sports Village.

"We know Reading are a very good team," Hanson added. "They're different to Man City because they are more physical which is something we need to compete with and they’re very good at set pieces so we’re working on how to defend them and exploit their weaknesses.

"It’s very important we keep the momentum are all high in confidence so it will be good to keep that going and hopefully win again."
