Manchester United 'send officials to Brazil' to watch Everton Soares

Manchester United have 'sent officials to watch Gremio' forward Everton Soares, according to reports in Brazil.

As well as chasing a new centre-back in the shape of Harry Maguire and a new central midfielder - with both Sean Longstaff and Bruno Fernandes on the short-list - United appear to be also chasing a new forward due to the uncertainty surrounding Romelu Lukaku's future.

The latest in a long line of rumoured names is the breakout star of the Copa America, Everton.

The 23-year-old broke into the Brazil side this summer due to Neymar being ruled out through injury and he more than filled the elusive Paris Saint-Germain's winger's boots by winning the Golden Boot as the Selecao won the tournament.

Everton scored three goals and bagged one assist which saw him beat Peru striker Paolo Guerrero to the gong, as Brazil won their first trophy since 2007.

There was no rest for the wicked either, as just three days later Everton was back in action for his club side Gremio and scored in their Copa do Brasil quarter-final first leg draw with Bahia.

According to Brazilian journalist Farid Germano, cited by Sport Witness, United 'have sent officials' to watch the Copa America final and to the Gremio game, 'primarily' to watch Everton.

It's also claimed that Bayern Munich and AC Milan are interested in the Brazilian but his club have yet to receive a bid.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are prepared to sell a number of players to raise funds to re-sign Neymar, as the AWOL attacker has refused to return to PSG for pre-season training.

That is according to  Sky Sports,  who say Barca will listen to offers for Ivan Rakitic, Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

United have been linked with all four players at various points over the last couple of years and all play in positions that the Reds want to strengthen this summer.

Finally, Toby Alderweireld is moving closer to joining Roma, according to Calciomercato .

They say the Spurs man has been offered a contract of €3.5m a year.

United were strongly linked with him last year, but don’t appear to be interested this summer.
