Manchester United send fans wild with Cristiano Ronaldo Instagram post

Manchester United have sent fans into a frenzy after a Cristiano Ronaldo post on their Instagram feed.

Cristiano Ronaldo spent six extremely productive years with Manchester United, registering 118 goals and 69 assists across all competitions during his stay at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese winger won three Premier Leagues, two League cups and a Champions League trophy amongst other things under Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving for Real Madrid in the summer of 2009.

Fast forward 12 years and Ronaldo has established himself as one of football's greats, scoring over 650 goals to help both club and country to a multitude of trophies, winning five Ballon d'Ors in the process.

During this time the 36-year-old has seemingly been linked with United at every opportunity, only to stay in the Spanish capital, or more recently join Italian giants Juventus.

However, this hasn't stopped some United fans from getting their hopes up and an Instagram post involving Ronaldo by the Reds' official account sent supporters into a frenzy on social media on Tuesday night.

Plenty of United fans took to social media to plead with the club to sign Ronaldo after he scored two goals for Portugal during their 3-0 win over Hungary on Tuesday evening.

The 36-year-old's brace were his 10th and 11th Europan Championship goals, making him the top scorer in the tournament's history.
